The International Police Mountain Bike Association’s

Police Cyclist Course
The ITC is a mandatory prerequisite (see below)

Next Course: June 19 - 23, 2006
Location: Alvin Police Department

The International Police Mountain Bike Association recognizes that bike patrols are high risk endeavors and should not be undertaken by officers with little, none, or inadequate training, therefore, the Police Cyclist Course is a culmination of years of experience and training from agencies and officers from around the globe.

The Police Cyclist Course’s curriculum covers a multitude of topics all of which have been designed to provide the new bike officer with the proper training that will enable him or her to be an effective law enforcement tool and survive the day-to-day threats that they will encounter.

Our instructor cadre is made up of IPMBA certified Police Cyclist Instructors from the Alvin, Galveston, and Houston Police Departments and we have been teaching this course of instruction since 1997.  Several members of our cadre have been selected in the past to be members of the IPMBA Police On Bikes National Conference Instructor Cadre as well.

Some of the topics that will be covered in the PCC are:

Obstacle Clearing – Hazard Recognition - Uniforms and Equipment

Arrest and Pursuit Tactics - Nighttime Tactical Patrols

Cycling in Traffic – Enforcement Operations

Some of the course’s highlights will be:

Vendor’s Presentations – Nighttime Urban Ride – Obstacle Course Competition

Course tuition is $100 per student.  Upon successful completion of the course the student will receive 48 hours of TCLEOSE training credit and be eligible for IPMBA Certification.  This school is offered at the Alvin Police Department and the Galveston Police Department.  The dates of the upcoming school will also include the location information.  See a list of mandatory and recommended equipment.
