Alvin Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association

"A Letter From The President"

11 years ago, a group of individuals started the first Alvin Citizens Police Academy (ACPAAA) and there have been 11 classes since then. We have even had 6 ministers in the City of Alvin and surrounding areas take the class . They did this in order to start a Chaplains program for the Alvin Police Department which has been very successful. The Alvin Citizens Police Academy is an organization dedicated to informing the citizens of Alvin as to the workings of the Alvin Police Department and all its departments. We are a 501 (c)3 organization so all of your donations are tax deductible.

Once an individual has completed the Citizens Police Academy they are given the opportunity to join the Alumni Association. The dues for joining the Alumni Association are $20.00 per year.

As a current member in good standing you are eligible to be an officer of the Board of Directors if you so choose and are voted into the position by the general membership. All graduates of the Alvin Citizens Police Academy will always be able to attend any of the general meetings but only those members who choose to support the Alumni Association are able to be a part of the Board of Directors or the Executive Board.

I want to invite all former members and recent graduates to become active members of the ACPAAA. Think about your level of involvement in the community. We meet on the second Monday of every month at the Police Department at 7pm. Our meetings last approximately 1 hour.

We have many things planned that will help not only the Alvin Police Department and its officers but the community as well.

We would like to start up a Search Team in this area that is manned by volunteers who have graduated from the Alvin Citizens Police Academy and work directly with the Police Department. In order to do this we will need ALL the help we can come up with. We would also like to form a "Citizens on Patrol" group.

The common denominator in both of these endeavors is "YOU" the concerned citizen. Programs like these will help two groups of individuals, The Police Department and the Citizens of ALVIN. Please consider becoming an ACTIVE CITIZEN and joining the Alvin Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association.

Come join us and rediscover your community through the eyes of the Alvin Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and make a difference in your neighborhood and surrounding areas. There are many things we would like to accomplish in 2005 and beyond but we need

Concerned Citizens like YOU

Thank You from the President and the Executive Board of Directors of the
Alvin Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association
Eric W. Varnado

For questions regarding membership please call any of the Executive Board Members.
